Fundraising Manager Location Chicago, IL (West Town area) :

JOB SUMMARY:

The ideal candidate for the Scholarship Program Coordinator role will be a personable, creative, detail-oriented, experienced professional who works independently and accurately handling a variety of tasks while simultaneously meeting deadlines. An ability to “hit the ground running” and adapt to changing circumstances is essential.

This position reports to the Executive Director and the Director of Scholarship Programs, performing a wide range of complex programmatic and administrative duties including writing, editing, coordinating information, creating reports, and communicating with scholarship recipients and university partners.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Development Activities

  • Collaborate with Board Members as assigned, and the Director of Corporate Giving and Sponsorship to build event committees and support their efforts in soliciting event sponsorships and project donors.
  • Assist the Director of Corporate Giving and Sponsorship in monitoring and evaluating all fundraising activities to ensure Annual goals are met.
  • Along with the Director of Corporate Giving and Sponsorship, manage timelines for various fundraising activities to ensure strategic plans and critical fundraising processes are carried out in a timely manner
  • Assist the Director of Corporate Giving and Sponsorship in implementing a major gifts program focused on the engagement of individuals.
  • Identify and qualify prospects to focus on the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals
  • Identify and establish a professional working relationship with potential international and national business prospects and other stakeholders to collaborate on Maestro Cares Foundation projects by understanding their unique business needs and how it relates to Maestro Cares Foundation work.
  • Assist the Director of Corporate Giving and Sponsorship in developing a corporate giving program, including supporting the preparation and submission of letters of inquiry and grant applications
  • Assist with the planning and execution of special fundraising events
  • Using our Donor CRM, assist with the administration of a donor mailing list and database which respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information

PROJECT MANAGEMENT ACTIVITIES:

  • Participate in new project developments and existing projects in collaboration with the Projects Manager
  • Review post-project visits with Project Manager after all on-site visits debriefing with the Executive Director
  • Collaboratively involved in program growth, expansion, and funding with the Project Manager
  • Responsible for staying abreast on current, new projects, and forecasted projects
  • Assist the Director of Corporate Giving and Sponsorship and Executive Director in creating development and fundraising reports for Quarterly Board Meetings.
  • Work with Development Associates and interns to engage volunteers for special fund development projects using established volunteer management practices
  • Assist the Director of Corporate Giving and Sponsorship and Executive Director in creating an annual income and expenditure budget for the fund development program and the Annual Report
  • Assist in monitoring expenses and analyze budget reports on fund development and recommend changes as necessary

MARKETING AND COMMUNICATIONS

  • Help Foster and build a culture of philanthropy within the organization and to supporters
  • Work with the management team to develop a comprehensive communications and marketing plan that integrates with the overall development plan and outreach strategy which promotes MCF to donors while maximizing public awareness of the fundraising activities of the organization
  • Build relationships with corporate and community stakeholders as well as project contacts to advance the mission and fundraising goals of the organization
  • Support and attend all organization events as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • Must have nonprofit experience or knowledge of nonprofit practices
  • 4-10 years of related work experience - major gift work, corporate and foundation engagement, special events, business and sponsorship development, grant writing, presentations, and project management
  • Proven ability to drive incremental revenue, create new relationships, nurture existing relationships, and build loyalty
  • Knowledge of fundraising management, special events planning, and management
  • Must be fully bi-lingual - Spanish/English
  • Proficiency in fundraising database platforms, preferably Salesforce
  • Demonstrated ability to close deals
  • Active listener with the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with diverse audiences
  • Must be able to write/edit/proofread
  • Must be willing and able to travel locally and regionally to conduct business, and occasional travel within the U.S. and abroad; travel - up to 25% (active passport required)
  • Ability to handle some flexible hours (some evenings/weekends)
  • Ability to work in different independently and as an integral member of the team
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Preferred

  • Advanced Degree preferred (Masters in Philanthropy and Development, Business, Public Affairs, Social Work, Law, or Policy)
  • Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) designation is an asset
  • Knowledge of crowdfunding and peer-to-peer fundraising platforms preferred
  • Ability/desire to learn other software programs as needed

Type: Full-time

Schedule: Monday to Friday (9am to 5pm)
